Terms of Use

Shardlings is a story-driven creature-collecting role-playing game and digital collection provided by Inova Platforms, Inc. By using the app, you agree to these Terms and Apple’s applicable App Store terms.

The experience

Users can explore Shardria, collect fictional companions, read their stories, complete quests, travel a campaign map, command a three-companion squad in turn-based Resonance Battles, level and evolve their companions, receive an included weekly companion, have optional AI-powered conversations, and optionally create an original companion from a permitted photo or written description. Shardlings are fictional software characters. They are not alive, conscious, human, or a substitute for real relationships or qualified professional help. AI output can be inaccurate or unexpected.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create or use a Shardlings account. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must approve your use and any purchase.

You may use an anonymous guest account or secure an account with Sign in with Apple or email and password. You are responsible for protecting your sign-in credentials. Guest accounts may be difficult to recover if you sign out before linking a permanent sign-in.

Acceptable use

We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or the law.

AI conversations

Before the first AI conversation, the app explains that the message, recent conversation context, and selected companion profile are sent to our server and AI service provider to generate a reply. Do not enter sensitive personal information. Automated safety screening and conversation limits are used but cannot be perfect. If someone may be in danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted person instead of relying on a Shardling.

Digital items, Shards, Sparks, and custom creations

Digital companions, Shards, Bond Sparks, Training Sparks, XP, levels, map stars, mastery, Echo Dust, and cosmetic effects are licensed in-app content. They have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, and are not transferable or redeemable for money.

Purchased Shards are consumable credits held in the Shard Vault on your Shardlings account and do not expire. Opening one reveals one random companion. The app discloses these exact odds before purchase:

A duplicate becomes 50–200 Echo Dust based on rarity. Random outcomes do not change after payment and do not provide money or real-world prizes.

A Bond Spark is a consumable credit that advances one owned companion by one bond level. The same levels can also be unlocked with Echo Dust earned through play.

A Training Spark is a consumable credit that grants a fixed 120 combat XP to one owned companion. Training Sparks never expire, but they stop at the combat level cap earned through Journey progress. They cannot buy map stars, trial victories, Ascension, ranked power, or a battle win. Combat XP is also earned by playing battles.

An exact-companion unlock is an account-bound consumable that lets you select one specific Sprite, Luminary, or Regent at the localized price shown before purchase. The selected companion is delivered to the Shardlings account used to fulfill the verified transaction. Because the product is consumable, Apple does not restore it after fulfillment; secure the Shardlings account to preserve access.

All Shardlings Forever is a one-time, non-consumable purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks every current catalog Shardling and future catalog Shardlings when added, with the full-power benefits described on the purchase screen. It can be restored on a supported device using the purchasing Apple Account.

A Creation Spark is a consumable that creates exactly one custom Shardling from a permitted photo or written description. Each Creation Spark costs the localized App Store equivalent of US $49.99, and every additional custom Shardling requires a separate purchase. The Spark is consumed when generation begins and returned to the account automatically if generation fails. Used consumables are not restorable.

You must own or have permission to use every submitted photo, description, name, and concept. Do not submit a photo of another person without permission or content that is unlawful, abusive, sexually explicit, dangerous, or infringing. Custom Shardlings are AI-generated and may be unexpected or imperfect. We may moderate, reject, or remove content to protect users, rights holders, and the service. Every custom Shardling is balanced as a Sprite and does not guarantee victory.

Resonance Duels use companion family, role, level, powers, and player-selected actions to resolve fictional turn-based battles. The server validates battle replays and awards progression. Shardlings does not offer wagering, player-to-player item trading, cash prizes, or items redeemable for money.

The one-time Keeper Chest grants 12 Shards, 5 Bond Sparks, and a permanent Prismatic Aura. Restore Purchases can restore the permanent Aura with the same Apple Account, but spent or deleted consumables are not reissued. Permanently deleting a Shardlings account deletes unused account-bound Shards, Bond Sparks, Training Sparks, Creation Sparks, exact-companion unlock records that are not independently restorable, custom-companion records, source photos, and generated portraits. Restorable non-consumable entitlements remain subject to Apple’s restore rules.

Shardlings Plus

Shardlings Plus is an auto-renewable subscription offered in monthly and yearly durations and is required for app access after onboarding. The app displays the localized price, billing period, included benefits, renewal terms, Privacy Policy, and Terms before purchase.

Plus includes the complete collection and Journey experience, an included starter and weekly shard, daily and battle progression, companion stories and chats, one monthly bonus hatch, and a cosmetic profile aura. Payment, renewal, cancellation, refunds, and billing are handled by Apple. You can manage or cancel in Apple Subscriptions and restore eligible purchases in the app.

Physical merchandise

Links labeled as external merchandise open the Shardlings web store in your browser. Apparel, art, accessories, and other physical products are purchased outside the app through Shopify, are not App Store purchases, and do not unlock digital companions, currency, progression, or other in-app benefits.

The web store and checkout display the current product description, price, availability, shipping information available for the order, and a separate privacy notice. Physical products may be made to order and fulfilled by service providers such as Printful. Contact innovaplatformsinc@gmail.com about a merchandise order, return, or refund. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer rights that cannot legally be limited.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account and associated cloud data in Profile → Account → Delete account and data. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription.

Ownership, availability, and liability

Shardlings, its characters, artwork, world, text, software, and branding are owned by Inova Platforms, Inc. or its licensors. These Terms grant a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app.

We may update, repair, rebalance, add, or retire features while preserving purchased entitlements as required by law and App Store rules. Online features can occasionally be unavailable.

To the extent permitted by law, Shardlings is provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited, including applicable consumer rights.
